Lessons in Lenormand: The Rider (1)
Hello my dears!
This is supposed to be a bit of a deep dive into the Lenormand card no. 1 called "The Rider".

Card number 1: The Rider |
The Rider can symbolise quite a lot of things, but mostly it stands for news reaching the querent very soon. The image usually shows a young man riding on the back of a horse, oftentimes in a reckless way, so you can surely imagine how fast the news could reach the querent. Most of the time it is positive news, but please also pay attention to the surrounding cards, if there are any in your reading. If this card stands on its own, for example, if you drew it as a single card, I would personally urge you to think about what kind of news are you expecting. Do you expect them to come soon? Would these be good or bad news in general? Also: How does the card in general make you feel? Mostly it IS positive news, though.
Sometimes, though, the Rider can also stand for a person, oftentimes a young man (or somebody identifying as such), some kind of a younger partner, or even a love affair for one of the people involved in the reading. However, this is not always the case, and it strongly depends on the question at hand! I will give you example combinations in a later post. Also, please note that the querent is represented by either the Lady (29) or the Gentleman (28), not by the Rider, just to keep it simple.
In both cases, if the Rider is lying next to a card symbolising a person, be it the querent or their love interest, it can also describe this person as young, sportive, enthusiastic, energetic, quick-thinking, maybe even impulsive, so it doesn't *always* symbolise another person. If the Rider in the image is looking like he is riding in a specific direction, for example towards the Lady (29), I would personally also interpret it that the news in question are aimed towards her.
Another interpretation is that there is a new beginning of some sort. Something is moving forward. Some kind of wish could be fulfilled or coming to fruition. By the way, if it symbolises news, it often stands for the fastest way these news could reach you. It could be in form of writing, of course, because the Rider also stands for a person working for the post, but it could also mean e-mail, a phone call, or something along those lines.
If you were just starting out learning about Lenormand and you just drew the Rider as your daily card, I suggest you write down the day, your personal interpretation, expectation, and at the end of your day, you can note down whether or not your expectations came true, whether your interpretation was correct, whether any news came towards you, no matter how small or "insignifcant" they may have been. Or maybe the Rider really appeared as a young, energetic person in your life, who knows, or something else happened that could be explained this way. If nothing happened, FEAR NOT :). Maybe your success is waiting for you on another day, but you did something *today* that will help you forward?
Also, when writing down your interpretations daily, you will notice not everything will automatically happen right away, and sometimes, frankly, I personally did not interpret them correctly. This can happen, and there is no shame in this. Sometimes, I noticed, my own expectations were in the way, but either way, give yourself grace. Keep doing your best.
By the way, there are also versions of the Lenormand with words instead of e. g. clubs or diamonds, with the words hinting at the meaning behind each card. I do not have them, because honestly, this would have confused me, but of course, every reader is different, maybe this works better for you than *just* imagery?
Anyways, as always, if you have any questions, please let me know in the comments. I hope to talk to you soon.
Much love!
